Dominic's Message

Hi everyone, Dominic here from Shutterbug Shop - What a year it's been!

Well, what can I say, it’s been an absolutely crazy year for everyone. I hope you and everyone you love are all safe and well. Who could have ever predicted the kind of year we’ve all experienced this year? It’s been an absolute rollercoaster of a ride for so many of us on so many levels, and it’s affected so many people all over the world …a genuine world event like no other!

Personally, I found the lockdown time (we all endured) a great time to slow down and reflect. I took this time out to reflect on the people and the things that are most important to me in my life. And it was also a good time to stop and reconnect with self and the beautiful world around us. I am thankful for the wonderful world we live in and the blessings we receive every day (even when they’re in disguise).

The Shutterbug Shop, like most businesses, also had some major obstacles to endure throughout the year, the biggest being the delays to all deliveries since the end of March. This was caused by the shutdown of airports, the grounding (and closure) of airlines, restriction on travel and the closure of borders (just to name a few) all having a devastating effect on global shipping.

On top of those issues, there was also a substantial increase in online shopping and a demand in shipping the likes of which has never been seen before. This then added to the impact of shipping world-wide, causing major bottlenecks and shipping delays to millions of parcels world-wide.

Although things are getting better, they are still not where they need to be in order for us to give any guaranteed shipping times. Which brings me to my next point.

It is really important that you get your Christmas orders in as early as possible this year, otherwise you may not get your packages in time for Christmas. Going on current shipping times (on imported goods at least) I would recommend having your orders in by the 12 of November at the latest. That will give you a 6 week window for deliveries and hopefully a little buffer time as well.

Imported Goods

Locally produced and stocked items such as hoodies, t-shirts, hats, etc (the custom design and print stuff) don’t need to be ordered as early as they only needs about 10-14 days lead time for local delivery. But I wouldn’t leave it to the last minute either given the demand in shipping that will be experienced before Christmas and the uncertainty of shipping times and delays that we are still dealing with at the moment. I would recommend having those orders in by the 4th of December at the latest. Better to be safe than disappointed and sorry!

Here’s to a “Happy Holiday” season just around the corner. A time when we can put aside the chaos of the year (for a moment at least) and enjoy a time of love, joy, giving, and receiving.

With warmest regards
